Shorthand is an advanced gesture recognition engine and command processor that enables you to easily control programs by using your pen to draw simple symbols on the Tablet PC screen.
Gestures are simple symbols, similar to characters, which you can draw on your Tablet PC screen with your pen (while pressing the pen button). When you draw a gesture that exists in Shorthand, the application performs the action that is associated with that gesture.
To see a demo of how Shorthand is used, see Demo - Using a gesture to open a Web browser.
Shorthand enables you to use the pre-defined gestures, and to create new gestures to perform specific tasks not included in the pre-defined gestures.
For information about pre-defined gestures, see Predefined gestures.
For information about global and local gestures and adding a gesture, see Global gestures and Local gestures.
For information about creating a new gesture, see Creating a new gesture.
Some gestures are disabled and are not active in certain applications. For a list of disabled applications in which gestures are not active, see Disabled applications.
